Fandoms past

Yay! I have just finished posting all my Stargate Atlantis fanfic to AO3! It's been an epic project, since I must have close on a million words of the stuff, and I reread everything before posting it. The official count is 71 stories, but the true number is 78, since I posted some of the silliest pieces as anthologies. I've been posting between one and three a day, and it's taken about six weeks.

I've also posted various stories from other fandoms, too. Diana Wynne Jones is all done, and The Dark is Rising is part done. A few bits and pieces in other fandoms are done, while others remain to be looked at.

However, I've decided not to post any of the X-Files fic I wrote back in the 1990s. There must be around a million words of those, too, but they're all in plain text format, written as they were in the dim and distant days of Usenet. Plus, my style's changed so much since then that I'm not entirely sure I'd like the stories if I could bothered to reread them, which I can't. I've also not posting any of the Star Wars stories - also probably close on a million words, all about Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn pre Episode One - since they were never intended for public consumption. They were gleefully self-indulgent angst and h/c-laden pieces written for myself and one other reader who shared my tastes. I learnt so much while writing them, since it was the first time I dispensed with any planning and just handed the story over to the characters and let them take over. I had enormous fun writing them. But I'm not posting them on AO3.

Since I've spent the last few months immersed in fandoms past, I've not even glanced at anything Lord of the Rings related since early in the summer. Well, except for one story, which I wrote a few weeks ago while taking a brief break from posting SGA stuff. I just need to step away from the computer for a few hours and go Woo-hoo! a bit, but I might even edit it up and post it later today. And after that, it's back to fandoms past. But the bulk of it's done now. The Big One has been conquered. Yay! :-D
